The theme of TEDx at the University of Amsterdam this year “In Search of Truth” was a perfect one for Josephat, who has been fighting against harmful beliefs surrounding albinism in Africa. He has devoted his life to promoting the right to life of people with albinism and educating communities with the truth about albinism. Senseless harmful rituals are often intertwined with community taboos that silenced the locals for years by taking advantage of their poverty and ignorance. Changing the mind-set paradigm takes years to obtain some tangible results, but without continuous efforts to de-code the myth, we will never be able to see the truth. Josephat talked about his birth, his youth, and what made him determined to become a human rights activist.
